Greiz, March 2025. TITV Greiz is reorganizing its research and development structure and will establish two new groups, "Functional Yarns & Additive Processes" and "Textile Finishing," from the existing "Functional Surfaces" group, effective March 1, 2025.

This restructuring reflects the institute's response to the growing variety of topics, ranging from traditional finishing techniques to innovative processes for producing functionalized textiles. "Our customers and research partners are continuously seeking new, innovative textiles for their portfolios. At the same time, there is a strong focus on sustainability, with an emphasis on making materials more eco-friendly and processes more flexible and energy-efficient. With the formation of these two new research groups, we are better positioned to address this complex challenge," says Dr. Fabian Schreiber, Director of TITV Greiz.

Julia Ullrich will lead the “Functional Yarns & Additive Processes” group moving forward: “Our focus is on developing innovative yarns that go beyond traditional textile functions—ranging from electrical conductivity to color-changing capabilities when heated, and even plagiarism protection. We also leverage additive processes like our powder coating technology to equip textile surfaces with additional functionalities, including laser protection.” Dr. Andrea Preuß will head the “Textile Finishing” research group at TITV Greiz: “This new structure allows us to further enhance our unique strength in offering well-equipped, flexible finishing processes, supported by our experienced master craftsmen. Our goal is to make resource-intensive textile finishing more sustainable, using methods like natural dyes. We aim to assist SMEs by tackling current challenges together, contributing to the development of new innovations and strengthening the textile industry as a whole.”
