Greiz, 16th December 2024. The institute presented its latest technologies and projects during a visit by Dr Ulli Schäfer, administrative head of the district Greiz, Alexander Schulze, Mayor of Greiz, and Kathrin Horn, Head of the BVMW Greiz - Saale-Orla District Association.

Dr Fabian Schreiber, Managing Director of TITV Greiz, gave the guests a tour of the facility and explained the institute's current research work and strategic plans for further development.

New system enables digitally controlled printing of functions
One highlight of the visit was the demonstration of the ultra-modern powder application system with laser technology by materials scientist Yashas Shivakumar. The laser powder system at TITV Greiz works digitally and can precisely apply advanced properties to textile substrates. This results in functional textiles that are more durable and precisely tailored to the desired requirements. Textiles become electrically conductive, electroluminescent, magnetic or luminescent. An innovative handling system combines a powder nozzle, applicator and laser with a power supply, an IR camera, a printer, a flexible roll holder and an extendable frame.

Greiz as a future-oriented research centre
Dr Schreiber emphasised the particular advantages of Greiz as a location: ‘The district of Greiz also offers ideal conditions for research and development thanks to the funding programmes of the Free State of Thuringia and federal funding for the region. We see close cooperation with regional companies as an essential element for sustainable economic development.’
