Greiz, July 2023. Thuringia's Minister of Economics and Science Wolfgang Tiefensee visited TITV Greiz to hand over the 450,000 Euro grant notification.
With the help of the funding, the research institute invests in a robot-based recognition and sorting system that separates e-textiles automatically and energy-efficiently in order to recycle them. The result is a circular economy process that both uses fewer resources and offers potential energy savings through the reduced use of new materials.
Minister Tiefensee also visited a facility directly related to the new recycling system: a development laboratory for the digital connection of textile manufacturing processes and efficient, scalable production of smart textiles. This plant was subsidized by the Free State of Thuringia, as well.
