Vice-President of the German Bundestag Katrin Göring-Eckardt and institute director Dr. Fabian Schreiber

On 31 May 2023, the Vice-President of the German Bundestag Katrin Göring-Eckardt visited the TITV Greiz. She took the opportunity to inform herself about current developments in the WaterJetClean+ project.

The research team from Greiz is working with other project partners from all over Germany on a system that can be used flexibly to rid rivers of waste before it reaches the sea. The TITV researchers are working on the composition of a conveyor belt made of special textiles. One of the challenges is to develop robust and environmentally friendly textiles that filter waste particles with a volume of at least one cubic centimetre, but leave fish and other creatures in the water. The project started in spring 2023 and will run until summer 2025.

Many thanks to Franziska Heymann from MDR Thüringen for the article: Researchers from Greiz want to free rivers from waste with a conveyor belt and to Ingo Eckardt from OTZ for the article: Pilot plant to run on the Elster from August.

We would like to thank the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for funding the research project ZIM KOOP NKF (CleanRiverSolutions) 16KN087344 "WaterJetClean+" as a grant from the federal budget.
