Sustainable repairs, smart functionalization: TITV Greiz at Techtextil 2026
Greiz / Frankfurt am Main, April 2026 – Sustainability and digitalization are just as much a part of our everyday lives as textiles. At Techtextil 2026, the Textile Research Institute of Thuringia-Vogtland (TITV Greiz) will demonstrate how these elements are seamlessly interconnected across diverse applications. At the Thuringian joint booth (Hall 11.1, Booth B39), the institute will present its latest research and development projects under the guiding theme: “Sustainable by Design. Smart by Profession.”
Patent for flexible functional component opens up new possibilities for smart textiles and films
Greiz, March 19th 2026. The Textile Research Institute Thüringen-Vogtland e.V. (TITV Greiz) has secured a patent for a flexible functional component. The patented technology enables a specific structuring of the functional coating of e.g. textiles or films to obtain a high functionalisation while preserving properties such as flexibility and breathability in selective areas.

TITV Greiz presents textile-based blood sensor at Enforce Tac 2026
Greiz / Nuremberg, February 9, 2026 – The Textile Research Institute Thüringen-Vogtland e.V. (TITV Greiz) will be exhibiting at this year's international trade fair Enforce Tac. Visitors will find the research institute in Hall 6, at the Thuringian joint stand 215. The focus of the trade fair presentation will be on a novel, textile-based blood sensor developed specifically for use in security-critical and extreme medical situations.
Design guide for sustainable knitwear as the Key to authentic circularity in the textile industry
The Textile Research Institute Thüringen-Vogtland e. V. (TITV) is pleased to present its contribution to the Design Guide for Sustainable Textiles. The guide offers practical advice on how the textile industry can master the transition to a circular economy – provided that recycling is already taken into account during the design phase.

New research group launched: SmartTextMarker – From fibre development to automated recycling
The SmartTextMarker research group addresses one of the key challenges facing the textile industry: the lack of recyclability of electronic smart textiles due to complex material composites.
